Event Details:
Chicago Sinfonietta, "United We Stand"
Our shared experiences as Americans unite us in ways that lead to different expressions by each of us--some are inspired to create music, while others serve in the military. Some do both, like Vietnam War veteran James "Kimo" Williams, whose music offers a unique tribute to our service members. Experience America through the eyes of Williams and two others, Charles Ives and Antonin Dvorak. Ives, a native son, offers an unusual, lush version of our unofficial national song, "America." Dvorak's "New World Symphony" embodies the spirit of America through the eyes of an immigrant. This is a program for everyone with pride in America, our service men and women, and our shared struggles and triumphs.
