Josh Turner in concert
Josh Turner, multiplatinum MCA Nashville recording artist, is one of country music's most recognizable hitmakers. He will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. With a rich, deep voice and distinctive style, Turner has sold more than 12 million units, is a disciple of traditional country music and one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry. From his 2003 platinum-selling debut "Long Black Train" to his most recent 2012 Billboard No. 1 release "Punching Bag," Turner has garnered multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations. His hits include "Your Man," "Why Don't We Just Dance," "Firecracker," "Would You Go with Me," "All Over Me" and "Time Is Love," the most played country song of 2012. Turner added author to his list of accomplishments. His first book, "Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood," was released in 2014. Raquel Cole will open for Turner and was recently named the 2015 Canadian Country Music Association Discovery Artist. Her song "It's For Real This Time" has been featured on Sirius XM's The Highway and her stule has been influenced by artists like BTO, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Keith Urban and Shania Twain. Listening to Cole's music, you sense all the influences that contributed to shaping her unique style: a lot of country infused with a lil' sass, blues and jazz. Cole also has opened shows for Diamond Rio, Jonny Lang, Deric Ruttan, Chad Brownlee and more. Her songs have been recorded by international superstar Marie Osmond and The Railers.
